Puritan Water Conditioning, Inc. was established in 1905 under the name of Johnson Manufacturing of Crawfordsville, Indiana. After a few years the company was sold and the name was then changed to Puritan Engineering Corporation, in 1958 the company name was changed again to Puritan Manufacturing Corporation.
Dale Hockersmith bought the retail side of the company in 1975. The following year he purchased the manufacturing side and Puritan Water Conditioning, Inc. was formed. Dale continued to grow the local company expanding their network of dealerships to Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan. Today the Puritan name can be found across the country, from coast to coast.
Puritan Water Conditioning, Inc. is definitely a family owned business. Dale's sons are a vital part of the company's success. Jeff Hockersmith began working for his Dad in 1984 and Gary Hockersmith began in 1986. After Dale's retirement in June 2007 the men are now co-owners of the business.
